Programme of Events

The Hull Civic Society offer a programme of talks on matters of local interest during the winter and visits and guided walks during the summer. Admission is free to members, £2 to non-members.  All meetings are at the Mercure Royal Hotel, Ferensway. Commencing at 7:30pm unless otherwise stated

  • AGM (Part 2) will be on a date to be confirmed.  It will be followed by “Converging on Hull” by John Scotney – an illustrated talk about the various local industries that attracted some of his ancestors to Hull.


  • Spring & Summer Programme

    Mon 27th June, 7 pm: Old Town Treasure Hunt
    Meet at Tower Street Car Park (free after 6 pm) at the eastern end of Scale Lane Bridge, near the Premier Inn.

    Mon 11th July, 6.30 pm: Guided visit to the Hornsea Pottery collection at Hornsea Museum.

    Meet at Hornsea Museum, Burns Farm, 11-17 Newbegin, Hornsea.
    Advance postal booking with payment is essential for this visit.

    Charge £5.00 per person.  Numbers are limited and advance booking (with payment) essential.  Cheques to be made payable to “Hull Civic Society”, marked “Hornsea Museum visit” on the reverse and sent to Mrs Cynthia Fowler, 998 Holderness Road, Hull, HU9 4AG by 13th June 2016 Don’t forget to include details of your name, address, telephone number and email.

    Light refreshments (optional) will be available at a charge of £1.50, (payable on the day).
